“Don’t tell me there’s no such thing as gun violence. It happened in Parkland.” ― Fred Guttenberg #1 Best Seller in School Safety, Education Policy, and Law Enforcement Politics
Fred Guttenberg, who lost his beloved daughter Jaime in the 2018 Parkland school shooting, and International gun policy consultant Thomas Gabor team up in American Carnage to dismantle some of the most common myths about guns and gun violence. A national disgrace. In America, over 40,000 die each year as a result of gun violence. Relative to other advanced countries, the U.S. has a dismal gun violence record. Gun law reforms could reduce the number of gun deaths, but many political challenges stand in the way. A widespread multi-year misinformation assault on truth by the gun lobby and gun-extremists sows doubt about the dangers of pervasive gun ownership, gun carrying, and potential effectiveness of gun laws. Debunking popular gun myths. Countering with strong evidence-based research the many slogans and myths repeated incessantly by spokespersons for the gun lobby and its surrogates is essential if we are to have a society where kids can attend school safely and people can work and enjoy life without fear of being shot. Over the last 30 years, the NRA’s campaign to achieve an armed society has succeeded in persuading many Americans that having a gun in the home or carrying a gun makes them safer. The evidence is overwhelming this is not the case. Guns in the home are far more likely to be used against a family member or in a suicide attempt than against an intruder. Tackling this and other myths is critical. Myths and slogans exposed as false in American Carnage If you have read Trigger Points , The Violence Project , Warning Signs , or Fred Guttenberg’s Find the Helpers , American Carnage is a must read.

I’m still waiting for the GOP outrage about the egregious infringement of Hunter’s 2A rights.
(Did I just say ‘egregious’ to Republicans)?

Felon in possession of both firearms and drugs at the same time is for anyone else a 3 to 5 year sentence. So Yea we are pissed, that he isnt already in prison.

The obvious answer is just to take away all democrats guns and let republicans alone…
Hunter Biden is my hero…he’s bedded hundreds of prostitutes funded by his corrupt dad. Who doesn’t look up to that?

“In America, over 40,000 die each year as a result of gun violence.”
More than half of those deaths are suicide. Calling suicide gun violence is dishonest. The book is garbage.

Convincing Americans that guns are the issue is like shouting into the wind. They’re far too blinkered, and far too far down the rabbit hole to care.

Democrat hate guns because they are the ones who are always getting shot. most of the gun violence is committed by Blacks

@barrstonebender Read Larry Correia? You mean the narcissistic gun-nut twat who wrote himself (or a character with his CV) as “the Chosen” Gary Stu of his own supernatural novel. And thinks the literary world owes him a writing award. That Larry Correia?
Just look at the comments and one can see how hopeless the US is. The lot of them are eventually killing each other just because rich folks pay the media to gaslight them with BS.

I’m going to go out on a limb and guess this book doesn’t acknowledge the *ahem* demographic issues.

This is the problem with America, you don’t see yourselves as one people, it’s always “us vs them”. This is very evident by the
-American mentality.

Australia made gun purchases highly restrictive after the Port Arthur massacre (1996);
Britain learned from Dunblane (1996) and Cumbria (2010);
Norway introduced extensive gun restrictions after the Utoya island bombing and killing spree (2011);
Canada got the hint from the Ecole Polytechnique rampage (1989);
Newzealand severly ristricted ownership of various types of guns after Christchurch mosque shootings (2019);
I could go on. America has one of these types of shootings every week and refuses to learn.

Actually userabuser it’s slightly more than two per day. This year we’ll easily surpass the 600+ (shocking eh?) that occurred in 2022. “The Gun Violence Archive defines a mass shooting as one in which at least four people are shot, excluding the shooter.”
“There have been at least 607 mass shootings through November 22 this year [2022]. That’s just short of the 638 mass shootings in the country at this point last year – the worst year on record since the group began tracking them in 2014. There were a total of 690 mass shootings in 2021. The United States is likely to soon surpass the total of 610 mass shootings in 2020, with more than a month left of 2022 to go.”

Sorry should read “slightly LESS than two per day”.

What anti-2nd amendment right activists won’t tell you is that an overwhelming majority of gun deaths are suicide. Load of horse shit
